Praised as someone who "will represent the music profession at the highest level throughout her lifetime," Meghan Elizabeth Caulkett has performed with numerous orchestras, in solo and chamber music recitals, and at private events.
Currently, Meghan is the acting Principal for the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, and a substitute musician with the Houston Symphony Orchestra. In addition to being a regular musician with the Symphony of Southeast Texas, Caulkett has performed as principal harpist with the Shepherd School of Music Symphony and Chamber Orchestras.
Meghan's favorite performances have been for legendary film composer John Williams, Boston Symphony Orchestra conductor James Levine and His Royal Highness Prince Charles. Meghan was a fellow with the Da Camera of Houston Young Artists program from 2011-2012.
Meghan is completing her masters degree at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, where she studies with renowned Houston Symphony Principal, Paula Page. She was the recipient of the J.D. Bucky and Cynthia V. Allhouse Scholarship for the 2011-2012 year, and the Anadarko Petroleum Corporation Prize for the 2010-2011 year. She received her Bachelors degree Summa Cum Laude from Boston University.
Recently, she founded “47 Strings”- an innovative and educational outreach program designed to bring harp recitals to 47 different charitable organizations and free community concerts within the next year. Meghan hopes to foster a greater understanding and appreciation for classical music, by providing concerts to underserved audiences who are not often exposed to the harp.
